must be their server, because i have a fast computer and also broadband connection, but i was waiting for 15 (!) minutes to load this page. and it’s so slow.
maybe it’s just the first technical issues with a new site. hope it’s getting better. because it really makes no sense to have flash just because it’s flash and then it’s slow and doesn’t even play the movies in a decent framerate (look at transistor studios site, it’s so lagging when you play a clip. and i know many users were complaining even though they have good computers and fast connection. that’s just stupid. then rather have no flash)
now i could have a better glimpse, even though it’s still very slow and lagging.
but i’m not much into this design and kind of navigation. it’s always the same with davis. always dark-grey and always the same typography. who needs all this lagging background shit moving in space. we all know it’s possible and davis did that like 1000x on other sites. what counts is the content and work. i’d rather have seen a simplier site with preview thumbnails and faster loading.
First off, I’m not sure if you’re saying in your first comment that Flash is to blame for slowness, but if so, I want to correct that. Flash (and Flash video, whether it’s an embedded flv or an externally streamed flv) are not inherently slow. If the Flash site is developed poorly, assets might be mismanaged, which might appear to cause slow loading time, but ultimately true load time is a result of server performance and the overall traffic of the network.
If you want to see a big studio, non-Flash site that’s slow as Christmas, try visiting Motion Theory’s site. It’s beautifully built (from a coding standpoint) but they apparently underestimated the traffic they’d get, b/c it’s about as responsive as a comatose eggplant.
Secondly, and this is merely a matter of personal opinion, I really like the new Stardust site.
hey, apart from loading too slow, that flash is just too heavy! when it makes the transitions it slows down even my pc, which is known to run flash way better than mac.. i wonder what it looks like on a mac. said this, stardust work is great, with or without this flash site (which i like anyway)
yes i said it must be their server probably, now that it takes 20 minutes to load their site. but still, once loaded those background graphics are so slow and i have a real good computer. it’s just lagging and i wonder where the point is in that. who wants to wait 20 min. and then crushing the computer into knee?
must be mr. davis who thinks it’s funny. there are far better sites out there in flash that aren’t lagging like that and have a much better and throughthought navigation.
with transistorstudios i guess it’s the fact that their clips have no preloading stream, it rather seems as if it’s a direct stream and thus, even though having a fast connection it’s pretty much lagging. as if it was 8 – 13 fps instead of 24-30 fps.
that’s a bit risky to say.
i think even ebeling group’s site is much better (http://www.theebelinggroup.com). simple, nice navigation and compact. focused on what’s really important and that’s the content/ work.
go to linkdup.com – there you’ll find hundrets of websites that are much better and not lagging. just my opinion.

weird.. it was running just fine last night, now its real slow! maybe theyre still workin out the bugs.
Great work, it’s like a punch to the gut. Only wish they had quicktimes or at least an option to download.
I had the pleasure of meeting the folk from Stardust last November when they were our guests at XD3 here in San Diego:
