As indicated in my previous post, I’ve got a lot going on these days. But here I am, sitting in my office bored on a Saturday, so I thought I’d get caught up on all the great news that’s been coming into my mailbox over the last couple weeks.
Tom Flemming: Slow Motion
Check out the trailer and preview for an interesting new book written and directed by Tom Flemming, "Slow Motion."
Inspired by still photography from LA-based Workbookstock, "Slow Motion" is a collection of short stories. Tom made the trailer working purely with stills “to convey the idea of film-strips and of cutting the rushes into shape to make a story come alive.”
Perception: Voom HD Show Opens
Perception, a relative newcomer to the Cream O’ the Crop, teamed up with Voom HD to create two show opens, one for "Fly Over Fridays," a 2-hour show of aerial photography set to music, and another for Prime Rush, one of those extreme sports shows that people my age and gender tend to like.
Here they are: Fly Over Fridays and Prime Rush
The "Fly Over Fridays" opener is probably the first time I’ve ever seen the "wall of video" effect used where it actually makes sense. I mean, the show is about flying over stuff, so here we are, flying over stuff. Actually, we’re flying over stuff that’s flying over stuff. We’re meta-flying over stuff.
Whoa. I’m going to stop before I make a reference to The Matrix.
Sapone’s Contribution to Awake Your Consciousness
A while back, I posted about the then upcoming "The Awakening of Consciousness." Well, it’s all done and available for download at the official site now. i haven’t had a chance to watch much of it yet, but I’m sure it’s worth your time. Hell, it’s free. What’s not to love?
The venerable Sapone helped out with post and fx on a few choice scenes, which you can view here.
Stash 6
The latest issue of Stash looks pretty damn hot. Peep the trailer. I think these guys are on to something, and the price is right…
Whitmore: Nascar Nation
Crack open a cold Schlitz and watch a spot Jayson Whitmore recently posted to his site. "Nascar Nation" stays consistent with Nascar’s broadcast branding while pushing the aesthetic envelope a bit. The bold palettes and lively animation really pull me in, much more so than most of the other Nascar spots I’ve seen.
(I know I’m supposed to write Nascar in all capital letters, but it’s just too obnoxious for me. Isn’t the sport loud enough already?)
natl.tv
Get the skinny on National’s upcoming site and view some of their work at Dzine.tv. I especially like the gooey,Wayne Thiebaud-esque piece for The Observer. I can feel the sugar rush from here. (Thanks, Matt.)
Formavision: New Website
Formavision, a NY-based curating house, has recently launched their new site, where you can see their work for clients like Diesel and Sharp. Formavision works with a slew of bad-asses (Tronic Studio, Jerszy Seymour, Kenzo Minami, Faile, Banksy, Surface 2 Air, just to name a few) to create the most astounding environments and curatorial spaces anywhere. (No, that’s not from a press release; that’s all me, baby.)
Formavision also often has open calls to artists for projects like Remastered, an invitation to artists and designers to reinterpret important paintings in history.
Keep yer eye on Formavision. They’re plugged in, and they want your juice, too.
Caldito: CMYK
Caldito brings word of a new piece he recently completed entitled "CMYK." (You’ll need to wait a bit for the download, as there’s no progressive download. Or you can just right-click save as on the link.)
One to Watch: Harbonder
Brian Boyer, graphic designer and member of the Detroit electronic music outfit known as Strand, is working on a new site called "harbonder," which will eventually be home to the Strand’s music and the design inspired by it.
There’s not much on the site now, just a 30 second teaser animation (in Flash, I might add), but let’s keep our collective eyes on this one, shall we? See the site/teaser here.

i thought you were busy justin?
everytime you say you’re going to take some time off for writing & reading you come with more stuff, heh.
It’s a disease, I tell you. A disease!
Justim, thanks for mentioning the site…much appreciated. I hate to nitpick after you did me a solid but I’m afraid you left the “d” out of “harbonder”. At least your spelling isn’t quite as naughty as some of the other variations we’ve heard.

Yes, Stash 06 = extreme hotness. Just watched through it yesterday, drooled, and watched again. I recommend a subscription.
haha… your so awesome justin, great news as always.
