CG Networks interviews Marc Craste

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004

Here’s a nice little interview with Marc Craste from the folks at CG Networks. Man, I can’t wait to see “JoJo in the Starts” at RESFest in a couple weeks.

(Oh, and if you want to purchase the “JoJo in the Stars” DVD, you can now do so by visiting the Studio AKA website and clicking the ‘Shop’ link.)

Getting some Closure on Renascent

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004

Joost Korngold has posted some new work at Renascent, not the least of which is a glassy, classy piece entitled ‘Closure’.

Excellent music choice, and as usual, Joost knows exactly how to combine simple elements to create sophisticated, artful compositions. Bravo, Renascent!

All right everyone, here’s a huge update. I got a little behind, and now I’m going to make up for it.

1. First, and probably foremost, is the news that Matt Pyke has left the venerable Designers Republic after 8 years and started Universal Everything (produced by Transistor Studios in North America). Stop by their site to check out their reel and a music promo for Nuno Filipe Julia. Beautiful stuff.

2. I’m not a big fan of Papa Roach, but I am a big fan of Motion Theory. I’m also a big fan of hot girl-on-girl action. Check it out.
(Thanks for the tip, Robin.)

3. For all you KDLAB junkies out there, get your fix from “Eye-D,” a piece that somehow slipped by my radar. It goes nicely with the breathtaking “Les Jumelles.” Damn, I love KDLAB.

4. Here’s a disturbingly attractive music promo for Prodigy directed by Mat Cook and Julian House.
(This tip was given to me via email, but I have mysteriously misplaced the original message. Please send me another note so I can catch your name. Sorry.)

5. Head on over to Precursor Studio for some righteous work.
(Thanks, John.)

6. I just added German studio Sehsucht to the Cream O’ the Crop list. Check ‘em out.

7. Shilo just posted a kick-ass opener for TRL. Yowza!

8. And last but certainly not least, Digital Kitchen has updated their site with a new look and some new work.
(Thanks, Michael.)

The work of Patrick Ehrlund [fixed link]

For some great abstract 3D work, make sure to peep the portfolio of Patrick Ehrlund at www.platform01.com.

(Thanks for the tip, Patrick.)

A quickie before the flood begins…

Thursday, September 9th, 2004

Do yourself a favor and take a time out. Grab a chest full of fresh air. Smoke ‘em if you’ve got ‘em. Whatever. Then point your browser to NoPattern, the portfolio site of Chuck Anderson.

Sure, there’s only one mograph piece, but who cares? This is some beautiful, beautiful work. It’s got an airy, spring-time feel to it that makes me arch my back and say, “Ahhh!”

More soon…

(Thanks for the tip, Natasha.)

Craste directs Múm’s “Will The Summer Make Good For Of Our Sins?”

Tuesday, September 7th, 2004

Marc Craste’s new video for Múm’s “Will The Summer Make Good For Of Our Sins?” is now being served on the FatCat Records site. Craste’s special blend of black-and-white lushness lends this piece a dreamy atmosphere perfectly suited to Múm’s ethereal sonic landscapes.

Craste is a Bafta award-winning director represented by Studio AKA in London. He has also created “JoJo in the Stars,” a quirky animated short film with a fragmented narrative that feels a bit Kafkaesque. Both the Múm promo and “JoJo in the Stars” will be screened at Resfest 2004.

Nibble on some Loafheads

Monday, September 6th, 2004

Check out “Loafheads,” a cute animated short from Paul Parvulescu. (The Quicktime isn’t set up for progressive download, so be you might want to do the ‘right-click save-link’ dance from http://www.loafheads.com/.)

Reminds me of watching Pinwheel when I was a kid. Anyone else remember Pinwheel?
