Wow, this *is* an old post! So, to keep it alive a little longer...

"the creative force at Pixar animation, John Lasseter, has brought traditional hand drawn animation back to life at Disney."

Let's wait and see how the box office responds. :-) While Lasseter may have decided to "revive" 2D, the almighty dollar will decide whether or not it gets back on its feet and starts dancing.

I hate to dredge up an old post, but I just couldn't help myself. So much has changed in the last two years. Disney purchased the company who was responsible for digital (rather than hand drawn) films, Pixar. One would have thought that this would have sealed the coffin forever for traditional animation. But the remarkable has happened. The creative force at Pixar animation, John Lasseter, has brought traditional hand drawn animation back to life at Disney. Who would have thought that the man most responsible for the premature death of 2D animation would also be the savior of the medium? But that is exactly what has happened since Disney's purchase of Pixar.

So, I'm very sorry for dredging up an old post, but I felt that it needed a bit of an update for the history books. ;)

I have heard that Animagic Studios (www.animagicstudios.com) has been producing some really amazing animations. They have worked with many fortune companies and smaller companies. Keep on eye on them as they are creating some really amazing TV spots as well as 3D animated TV series. Rumor has it that a 3D animated motion picture is in the works too.

Last I heard from a friend, the Creative Director from Nakd in Toronto left as well and the company now only has a few animators. I wonder if they're even doing work these days.
